My Hometown: Independence {as featured in Cleveland Magazine}

In the past couple of months, I’ve had the chance to write more than anytime I can recently remember. One of those pieces was for a local publication – Cleveland Magazine

The Rating the Suburbs issue of the magazine is always an exciting one – after all, who doesn’t love a good ranking and bragging rights? With the annual listing of towns around Northeast Ohio, the editors invited five locals to share personal essays about what their cities, neighborhoods and homes mean to them. And here’s the kicker: I was one of them!

If you followed my Instagram Stories pre-pandemic, it was no secret that I was a regular at a local fitness facility, The Training Club. I met my trainer, Chris (@christopherftraining on Instagram), back in 2012 after a shoulder injury and when I returned to the gym two years ago, I never looked back. So when Cleveland Magazine asked me to write about something unique to my experience as a resident of my suburb, I knew exactly what to share.

Check out my full piece here on the Cleveland Magazine website.
